Globalization

Globalization is a term that is used for social communication between people, nations, ... .
It's a big process.

In the class, we have seen a title 'The world is becoming hot, flat and crowded'. The first time I read this sentence, I didn't understand what the writer, Thomas L., meant.
After Egon's explanation and the consultation of the group, i now understand the sentence.

For me, the meaning of 'the world is becoming hot, flat and crowded' is:

The world is crowded:
Different things in the place where i life, some of which have an influence on the people of my city. For example the immigrants. In my city, there are lots of immigrants. We try to accept them, but sometimes it is difficult. Some people don't give the immigrants a chance to be a part of the society, because they think that their environment is only for themselves.
I think that everybody should give the immigrants a chance to be a part of our society. The questions that I ask myself are: Whose society is this? Is it not from everybody? Why are people excluded? Is it not easier that we except everybody?
This last sentence isn't  always as easy in the city where I live.

The world is flat:
There are lots of things that change over time or have changed in the last few years. For example the habits of my grandparents. They go to church every Sunday. My parent did not get the same education as we did, ... .
I think that these changes are natural, and that everything will continue to change.  Everybody has their one rituals, principles, traditions, ... Are these changes good or bad for us? Will they ever stop? I don't know.

The world is hot:
Today is everybody does what they want, but this is not good for our world. Everybody must work together to make the world a better place.  We can only chance the world is overybody makes an effort. The world is not from us, but the world is from everybody. This mean that's everybody responsible for the world. If we work together, we can stop the climate change, ... . We need to do this for future generations, so that they also have a good world to live in.

Conclusion of this lesson:
Together we are everything. If we accept each other and work together , we can chance the world. Everybody is different, but everybody is a part of our society so we have to try to settle our differences in order to make the world a better place for everyone. 


Globalization:
Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment. This process has effects on the environment, on culture, on political systems, on economic development and prosperity, and on human physical well-being in societies around the world.

Translation: Globalisering is een proces van interactie en integratie tussen de mensen, bedrijven, en de regeringen van verschillende landen, een proces dat gedreven door de internationale handel en investeringen. Dit proces heeft gevolgen voor het milieu, op cultuur, op politieke systemen, op de economische ontwikkeling en welvaart, en op de menselijke fysieke welzijn in samenlevingen over de hele wereld.

Professional challenge:
Professional challenge is a positive activity and a sign of good professional practice, a healthy organisation and effective multiagency working.  Being professionally challenged should not be seen as a slur on the person’s professional capabilities.

Translation:
Professionele uitdaging is een positieve activiteit en een teken van goed vakmanschap uitvoeren, een gezonde organisatie en effectief meerdere instellingen werken. Als professioneel uitgedaagd moet niet worden gezien als een smet op de beroepsorganisaties van de persoon mogelijkheden.

Sustainability:

o        Progression:
If i look it up in a dictionary, it says that progression means 'improvement'. It's very important that we make progression in our work as a teacher. Our goal is that we promote the development of the pupils. To achieve this, you sometimes have to insert moments in your lessons and afterwards, where you reflect about the lesson and the improvements you want to achieve. It is also a reflection moment for yourself. If you do this, you can see your positive and negative points. Then you can also see your progression in your mission as a good teacher.

Translation:

Ik heb het opgezocht in een woordenboek. Het zegt dat progressie 'verbetering' betekent. Het is heel belangrijk dat we progressie maken in ons werk als leraar. Ons doel is dat we de ontwikkeling van de leerlingen verbeteren. Om dit te bereiken, moet je soms momenten inlassen waarbij je nadenkt over je les en hoe deze te verbeteren. Hoe je de ontwikkeling nog beter kan verhogen, waar u na te denken over de les en de verbeteringen die u wilt bereiken. Het is ook een weerspiegeling moment voor jezelf. Als u dit doet, kan je je positieve en negatieve punten  bespreekbaar maken. Hierbij kan je je missie als een goede leraar voortzetten. 

o        Curriculum:
Curriculum is a kind of plan. Not a normal plan , but a plan to learn something.  In Belgium we call it a learning plan. This learning plan is based on goals and includes the important things that have to be learned. For example to teaching pupils.

Translation:

Curriculum is een soort plan. Niet een normale plan, maar een plan om iets te leren. In België noemen we het een leerplan. Dit leerplan is gebaseerd op de doelstellingen en omvat de belangrijke dingen die moeten worden geleerd. Bijvoorbeeld hoe lesgeven aan leerlingen.

Tolerance:

o        Assimilation learning:
According to Jean Piaget there are three areas of knowledge: assimilation, accommodation and equilibration. These words mean:

-  Assimilation: The knowledge that you have is bigger than before.

-  Accommodation: You learn new knowledge. Your adapt your knowledge to the new things you learn.

- Equilibration: This is a combination from assimilation and accommodation. 

 By this new look at learning, you can create new structures in your brain that you can juice      for new skills. = The look on learning.

Translation:
Volgens Jean Piaget zijn er drie gebieden van kennis: assimilatie, accommodatie en evenwicht. Deze woorden betekenen:

- Assimilatie: De kennis die je hebt is groter dan voorheen.
- Accommodatie: Je leert nieuwe kennis. Uw aan te passen uw kennis aan de nieuwe dingen die je leert.
- Equilibratie: Dit is een combinatie van assimilatie en accommodatie.

Door deze nieuwe kijk op leren, ontwikkel je nieuwe structuren in je hersenen, die je dan weer kan gebruiken voor nieuwe vaardigheden. Dit is 'De blik op het leren.'

o        Culture shock: According to the dictionary, culture shock means: 'The new things that people experience when they come to a new culture, and which can be shocking as they are very different from their normal experiences (example: a new country, land, ...).'
When they see a habit that they do not use in them culture.

Translation:

Volgens het woordenboek, betekent cultuurschok : 'De nieuwe dingen die mensen ervaren wanneer zij komen in een nieuwe cultuur, en dit kan schokkend zijn. Ze kunnen heel anders zijn dan hun normale ervaringen (bijvoorbeeld: een nieuw land, land, ... ). "
Wanneer ze een gewoonte dat ze niet gebruikt in deze cultuur zien. 

Collaboration:

o        Inquiry: An inquiry is a systematic system of asking questions with the goal to discover new facts and find new ways of doing something.        'means to gather and broaden knowledge and understanding'

Translation:

Een onderzoek is een systematische systeem van het stellen van vragen met als doel om nieuwe feiten te ontdekken en nieuwe manieren vinden om iets te doen.      'betekent om samen te komen en te verbreden kennis en inzicht'

o        Global citizen: Global citizen is a kind of connectedness between people. It means that people of different cultures or nationalities find themselves stronger connected to other cultures than to their own culture/nationality.

You must know that we are not alone in the world. We have many nationalities and identities. Therefore we must understand each other and respect each other's ideas and background.   We are all global citizens. Everybody is from the world and the world is from everybody.

Translation:

Wereldburger is een soort van verbondenheid tussen mensen. Het betekent dat mensen van verschillende culturen of nationaliteiten zich sterker verbonden voelen met andere culturen dan aan hun eigen cultuur / nationaliteit.

Je moet weten dat we niet alleen zijn in de wereld. We hebben veel nationaliteiten en identiteiten. Daarom moeten we elkaar begrijpen en elkaars ideeën en achtergrond respecteren. We zijn allemaal wereldburgers. Iedereen is van de wereld en de wereld is van iedereen.


Innovation 
 

  o   Entrepreneurship: Entrepreneurship can be seen within or outside an organization. Entrepreneurship within an organisation is called internal entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship means seeing opportunities and taking advantage of those opportunities so that you can create value for your environment and for yourself.
The environment mentioned above can be customers, but can also be the people who are involved in your business. And again value means more than just money. It can also mean satisfaction or to do things that you really like.

     
Translation:

Ondernemerschap komt voor binnen een organisatie. Dit heet intern ondernemerschap. Ondernemerschap betekent het zien van kansen en het benutten van die kansen waarmee je waarde creëert voor je omgeving en voor jezelf. De omgeving kunnen klanten zijn, maar ook de mensen die bij jouw bedrijf betrokken zijn. En waarde betekent weer meer dan geld alleen. Het kan ook voldoening betekenen of dingen doen die je echt leuk vindt.

 

  o   Innovation:
Innovation or renewal is the introduction of new ideas and processes. Innovation can take place in schools, work places, ... . The process of innovation means doing things in a different (and possibly even better) way.

Translation:

 Innovatie of vernieuwing is het invoeren van nieuwe ideeën en processen. Innovatie kan plaatsvinden in scholen, werkgelegenheden, ... . Het proces van innovatie draait om dingen op een nieuwe (en zo mogelijk ook betere) manier aan te pakken.

Identity

• Modernisation:

The concept of modernization refers primarily to the set of related social changes that have occurred since the industrial revolution.

Translation:
Het begrip modernisering verwijst in eerste instantie naar het geheel van samenhangende maatschappelijke veranderingen die vanaf de industriële revolutie hebben plaatsgevonden

•  Marginalisation:

Process by which individuals or groups end up in the margins of society.

Translation:
Proces waarbij personen of groepen in de marge van de samenleving terechtkomen.

• Convention:

A written agreement which is of binding nature between two or more States or international public institutions.

Translation:

Een schriftelijke overeenkomst van bindende aard tussen twee of meer staten of volkenrechtelijke instellingen.
