Innovation

'In a time when there is hunger for innovation everywhere, we think our primary responsibility is to help prepare a generation of students to rise with the challenges of our times' (d.school).

Responsibility. Also very important, especially for school! It resembles independence, but it is slightly different.
Responsibility means that you're taking an important task and you ensure that the job is well done.
Independence means that you rely "on yourself" and that you handle and decide things "on your own".

Determination goals are a part of responsibility. These goals are the first look you draw at what you want to achieve. After determining your goals, you make appointments with yourself to actually achieve the goals. If you do nothing, then nothing will happen!

Conclusion:
Independence / responsibility is much more than doing things in your own way. A young person who is self-employed may itself be responsible for himself and his actions, but is also able to socialize and to be responsible for others. They will also take into account that others are responsible and self-reliant. And it is precisely in these areas that sometimes adolescents lack the necessary discipline.
Being independent is not something that will happen but something that must be learned and which is extremely important for the personal development. Therefore, we as teachers are important for students to support them and to give guidance so that they grow into adults who can take responsibility and function independently and correctly in society. As teachers we have an important role to play here, just like the parents do.

Design for Change

I have chosen the film 'Story of DFC " because it appealed to me the most. I was interested in how the organization was started and what their main goals were.

No child shall be excluded in this project. In the words of Kiran: “You should not rich or powerful in getting involved”.

I think it is a very good initiative that some people in India have started this project. In this way the third world countries are also heard. Everyone deserves a good life and these people take care of this. They try to ensure that every child can say 'I CAN'. That they can go to school, so that they can learn how to function in the world.
These two words 'I CAN' have gotten a new meaning for me after attending this session:

That everyone can be useful in society and that we need not exclude anyone. Everyone is unique and we must accept that. Nobody has the right to draw back other people, or to exclude people from third world countries.

"Everyone is a person and the world is a person."

Words of the session

Entrepreneurship:
Entrepreneurship
can be seen within or outside an organization. Entrepreneurship within an organisation is called internal entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship means seeing opportunities and taking advantage of those opportunities so that you can create value for your environment and for yourself.
The environment mentioned above can be customers, but can also be the people who are involved in your business. And again value means more than just money. It can also mean satisfaction or to do things that you really like.

 Innovation:
Innovation or renewal is the introduction of new ideas and processes. Innovation can take place in schools, work places, ... . The process of innovation means doing things in a different (and possibly even better) way.

Prototype:
Original model, first model of a product.

  1. Dear Emmely,
Thinking about the words 'I Can' in a new word is quite inspiring, I agree. They seem like small words but they can be very powerful! I liked the song :-)
    Best,
    Lilian
